About the Director:

Geoff’s association with music and electronics have run a parallel path since 1972.

Whilst on a year’s working holiday to London, Geoff joined the technical department of Audio One Studios (previously Trident Studios) in St Anne’s Court, Soho.

The studios were part of The Recording Group (which incorporated Audio One, Tape One and Copymasters) then under the directorship of Bill Foster and Barry Ainsworth. Audio One was a 3-studio recording complex in the heart of London that included disc cutting, CD mastering and duplication.

He worked with many high profile artists and advertising clients that included Bill Wyman, Rory Gallagher, Aswad, Danny D, Cathy Dennis, The Triffids, Kenny Baker, Ronny Verrell, Adelaide Hall and Sir John Gielegud.

Geoff worked along side producers like Howard Gray (Scritti Politti), Paul Corkett (Cure , Placebo, Radiohead, Nick Cave) Mark “Spike” Stendt and Nigel Godrich who has gone on to engineer and produce such acts as Radiohead and Placebo.

When The Recording Group closed Geoff moved to Marcus Studios, a 4-studio complex in Fulham directed by producer/engineer Marcus Osterdahl most well known for his work with Abba.

During his time there he gave technical advice and support with artists such Orbital, Killing Joke, King Sounds, Heat Wave, Aswad, Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera), Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes To Hollywood) and Edwin Collins (Orange Juice) to name a few.

Because of a unique offer in 1991, Geoff left Marcus Studios to take a position at one of London’s most prestigious music establishments, Air Studios, in Oxford Circus, where he soon became a senior technician.

Initially under the direction of Sir George Martin and John Burgess, Air was instrumental in championing some the world’s most talented artists from the early 1970s to the present day. Their client list includes Chrissie Hynde, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, John Williams, Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols, The Notting Hillbillies, The Travelling Wilburys and many, many more.

At the end of 1992, Air moved from its central London location to Lyndhurst Hall in Hampstead, an old church building designed in 1888 by Alfred Waterhouse who was also architect of London’s Natural History Museum.

Geoff was involved in the technical construction of the new complex and it’s opening production for the Prince’s Trust, a version of Dylan Thomas’s work “Under Milk Wood”. Participants included Anthony Hopkins, Mary Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jonathan Pryce and many others.

Technical supervision and set-ups for film scores and orchestral sessions were carried out for clients such as Henry Mancini (music for Return of the Pink Panther) and the London Symphony, Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras.
